United States - 1916 - GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER BECOMES A FELLOW AT THE ROYAL SOCIETY OF ARTS IN LONDON
George Washington Carver was director of the Department of Agricultural Research at the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute in Alabama. He found hundreds of uses for peanuts and sweet potatoes which helped revive the foundering agricultural base of the south.
